This page contains examples of assignment prompts, collected through our annual artifact scoring process, that effectively guide students to demonstrate what they’ve learned in relation to a specific Intended Learning Outcome (ILO) within the OLE Core. We hope that these examples can spark ideas for different ways to intetionally incorporate OLE Core ILOs into your course(s) so that existing assignments do not need to be “retrofitted” to accomodate the ILOs (see this page for additional prompt development guidance). These prompts are posted with faculty permission, redacting faculty/course names and departments where possible. We will be adding to this list as we assess new OLE Core attributes each year. Note that for some attributes, prompt examples only represent certain ILOs because others are assessed through different methods.

*This prompt provides a good example of how to incorporate all four PAR ILOs into a single assignment, though artifact scoring focused on ILO 3 in this case.
Under Power and Race ILO #3, there is also a prompt that addresses all four ILOs, if you’re interested in seeing another example that addresses ILO 4. Additionally, PAR ILO #3 example 3 incorporates personal reflection on students’ identities.
*This prompt addresses all 3 QCR ILOs.
