If you are sick and think that you might be contagious (e.g., sneezing, coughing, feverish), please stay home.
Seek immediate medical attention if you have difficulty breathing, chest pain or pressure, sudden or severe dizziness, confusion, symptoms that improve and then return even worse, or inability to keep liquids down.
Wear a high-quality mask if you must be around others in public. It is good practice, and a courtesy to others, to wear a mask if you must be in public while you feel unwell.
If you have symptoms of COVID-19 then you should take a COVID-19 test.
If you test positive for COVID-19 then follow the College’s COVID-19 guidelines.
- Contact Health Services or Timely Care for medical assistance.
- Inform your professors, supervisors, coaches, etc. It is your responsibility to tell them that you will miss classes/work/activities. Additional guidance can be found in the Medical Excuse Note Policy.
- Questions regarding residence hall needs (cleaning supplies, etc.) should be directed to your Area Coordinator.
- If feasible the student who is not well is encouraged to return home during the sickness.
- The College does not maintain isolation rooms for temporary relocations for the student who is sick or the healthy roommate.
- The healthy roommate has the option to find temporary housing arrangements; however, the roommate should recognize that they have been exposed and should act accordingly.
- It’s important to remember that students living in residence halls become sick with many different contagious illnesses, and they usually remain in shared rooms/suites with their roommate(s) while recovering – this has been the long-standing policy at Institutions of Higher Education across the country.
- Roommates should work together to come to an agreeable arrangement in which both feel their health needs are being met.
- Residence Life-on-Call is available if you have additional questions. Contact can be made via Public Safety 507-786-3666.
- You can use the GET App to order food from The Cage. Ask a friend to pick up the meal for you.
- If you need assistance with your meals, please contact Residence Life via Public Safety 507-786-3666.
