Lecture-demonstration on the History of Hula in Room 305 in the Center for Art and Dance.
The presentation will focus on the following three elements and how they changed throughout hula’s
history: (1) who is the audience; (2) the evolution of music/chant and (3) the adaptation and influence in
dance.

A performance of student, faculty and community work highlighting dances-in-progress as well as completed dances.

Free and open to the public.  There are no tickets.  Doors open at 7:00 p.m.

If you are unable to attend the performance, you can watch a live stream of the Thursday, December 8, performance beginning at 7:30 p.m. The performance will also be archived for future viewings.

THE NORTHFIELD EXPERIENCE

Stephan Koplowitz: The Northfield Experience

A site-specific performance journey

A collaborative project between St. Olaf and Carleton Colleges

Veteran Director/Choreographer/Media Artist Stephan Koplowitz will create a site-specific, immersive performance event using the town of Northfield, Minnesota, as its canvas and subject matter. Comprised of a series of inter-laced performances of theater, dance, visual installations, and digital media, this performance event will be inspired by the history, architecture, and unique community of Northfield. Koplowitz is excited to work and collaborate with St. Olaf and Carleton Colleges and the greater Northfield community.

First Year Dance Project dancers perform pieces that have been created by and with faculty during the year. Genres include modern, improvisation, ballet, and international.
