Campus Storage Applications
Residence Life recommend students to utilize professional storage facility businesses that can provide secure storage for personal items. Some listings can be provided on the Residential Services webpage.
Residence Life is not responsible for the misplacement, theft or damage to student’s personal property placed into storage. The residence hall storage is not a deemed a secure storage facility. Students’ items are not placed in individuals cage/locker areas.
Students are expected to check the eligibility for Long Term and Short Term Storage before applying. Student must properly label bin/item with the provided Storage Tag. Any item without a proper and completed Storage Tag will be considered abandoned.
Both of these forms need to be filled out prior to students storing their belongings in the Residence Hall Storage facilities. Please allow up to 72-hours to process your storage application.
Long Term Storage
- Long-term storage is classified as any items that you will not access for the entirety of one or more terms (Fall semester, Spring semester, or Summer).
- Furniture Storage is classified under Long Term Storage.
- Bicycles can not be stored under Long Term Storage.
- Bicycles are not permitted to stay on-campus during a term that students are not present.
Short Term Storage
- Short-term storage is for items that you will access during the term.
Please note that at this time, you should only be submitting Long Term Storage Requests.
Spring Storage Hours


RESIDENTIAL STORAGE
Students should store items in the hall that they will reside in for the 2024-2025 academic year. Summer storage can be accessed on Reading Day, May 14 through May 21.
Please note that summer storage is classified as long-term storage.
Storage is accessible during front desk hours. please see your hall’s front desk to access the hall’s storage room.
Items lost or damaged in storage: St Olaf College assumes no liability for items lost or damaged while in storage. Items may only be stored until its collected by date. Anything left beyond that time will be considered abandoned property.
Students are storing at their own risk. Please be sure to read the Residence Life Storage Policy for guidance. If storage capacity is reached for a given area, priority may be given to international students/furthest travel distances. The Hall Receptionist has the right to turn away any items from being stored.
Storage Hours: During the academic year, storage is only accessible during front desk hours in each residence hall. Any access outside of this time (summer, early arrival, post-Commencement etc.) is by appointment only (at least 3 business days-notice required).
If you feel you will need urgent access to storage items on short notice, you should obtain off-campus paid storage.
Abandoned Property:
When a student’s personal items remain after they vacate their assigned space or an item remains in a residential storage room past its collect by date, the items are immediately considered abandoned. All items are disposed of no matter their value. Any attempts the department may make to contact a resident is a courtesy.
