First Year Halls:

Mohn Hall

One of the two towers on campus, Mohn is a ten-story residence hall housing 307 students. The hall, which traditionally houses first-year and upperclass students by floor, offers a main lounge, a recreational room, and a piano room. The circular arrangement of each corridor creates a strong community atmosphere.

Ellingson Hall

Ellingson Hall is located on the Northeast side of campus near Mohn and Thorson Halls. Ellingson Hall is a four story building housing 185 first-year students. With centralized lounge spaces on every floor, Ellingson Hall offers an intellectual atmosphere for students to easily meet, study and hang out outside of their rooms.

Kildahl Hall

Kildahl Hall offers a friendly, comfortable atmosphere for 168 students. The main lounge serves as the center of community, offering many activities and late night conversations around the fireplace. Kildahl is equipped with lofted beds, computer facilities, and a strong community that is ideal for studying and socializing.

Thorson Hall

Thorson Hall houses 235 students and offers a spacious back yard with a patio and provides a striking view of the Northfield community. It has several features, most notably its spacious lounge that is a favorite study and conversation spot.

Occupancy Agreements and Rates
Occupancy Agreement

The Occupancy Agreement outlines the terms for living in St. Olaf College residence halls, ensuring clear expectations for both students and the College. Students are responsible for reviewing and adhering to all policies throughout their stay.
Room Rates

Housing rates vary by room type and are updated annually. Students are responsible for timely payment and should familiarize themselves with the options available to select the best fit for their needs.

Designed Single Rooms are an additional $750/semester. Premium Single Rooms are an additional $1500/semester, they are only offered for the spring semester if there’s capacity. Residence Life Staff will notify students if Premium Single Rooms will be offered.

Board (Meal Plans) & Costs

All on-campus students are required to choose a meal plan, offering flexible options to suit different schedules and preferences. Students should understand the terms and use their plan responsibly throughout the year.
Full Meal Plan Option – $7,480 for the year or $3,740 per semester. For more information, please visit the Meal Plan Options Webpage.
| STS1 | 21 Meal Plan: 21 meals per week, no flex dollars. For students that prefer to eat three meals a day in the cafeteria. |
| STS2 | 17 Meal Plan: 17 meals per week and $380 flex dollars per year. For students who will eat the majority of their meals in the cafeteria, but may miss a couple meals here and there. This plan allows the students to get the bulk of their meals through the cafeteria, but also enables students to occasionally eat meals or have snacks in other locations using their flex dollars. Students receive $170 flex dollars each semester and $40 for January Term. |
| STS3 | 14 Meal Plan: 14 meals per week and $540 flex dollars per year. For students who only eat two meals a day in the cafeteria. This plan is best for students whose schedules may conflict with the cafeteria hours or who prefer to have more flex spending dollars at locations other than the cafeteria. Students receive $240 flex dollars each semester and $60 for January Term. |
Partial Meal Plan Option – $3,740 for the year or $1,870 per semester
College policy permits students living off campus, in an Honor House, student teaching, or doing clinicals through the Nursing Department to select the partial board option.
| STS4 | 210 Meal Plan: 90 meals per semester, 30 meals during January Term, and $450 flex dollars per year. Meals are not restricted to a week usage. Students receive $205 flex dollars each semester and $40 for January Term. |

Prorated Room & Board (Meal Plan)

- Click here to review the reasons when a prorated stay can be requested and considered for approval. This list is not all inclusive. There is no grant or scholarship eligibility with prorated housing and meal plan charges. Students will be eligible to work on-campus to help cover these costs.
- Submit here to request a prorated room and board (meal plan). This form is not available in the housing portal at this time.
- Eligible students who requests a prorated stay for a semester/term will have a prorated charge for room and board (21 meal plan) placed on their student account.
- The Prorated room and board (meal plan) guidelines do not apply to students who are staying on-campus for an entire semester/term.

Room:
- $20.00 per day
- Building and/or room assignment is based on availability. Students who are residing on campus for a full semester will received priority for housing preferences before students are placed requesting a prorated stay.
- If you are currently living on campus and requesting an extended stay may be required to relocate to another residence hall/room.
- You may be given a temporary room assignment if you are not on campus for a full semester/term.
- Single rooms are not available during prorated stays.
- The housing charge is prorated.
Board (Meal):
- $23.00 per day
- If living on campus, a meal plan is required and the 21 meal plan (or the highest level meal plan) will automatically be applied and charged (prorated).
