The Residence Halls close for the Spring 2025 term on Wednesday, May 21. All students are expected to check out of their Residence Hall by this date. Students not approved for Summer Housing or Extended Stay must check out of the residence halls 24-hours after their last final exam.
Students who are participating in end-of-the-year programs, finishing their athletic season, or staying on-campus as a part of a summer program must sign up for a Extended Stay on their SIS account. Students who wish to stay on campus after May 21st, but are not a part of a summer program, must be approved and will be charged a nightly fee.
Summer Housing is provided to any student who is participating in summer classes, research, or on-campus programming; or for students who are enrolled in Fall 2025 classes at an additional cost. If you need Summer Housing, please fill out the Summer 2025 Housing Application on SIS.
Floor Meetings
Attend your RA’s Closing Floor Meeting!
Floor Meetings will be held between May 1 and May 11. Attending your floor meeting is required so that you can learn about Residence Hall Closing, Storage, and ask any questions that you may have.

Check Out Checklist
Prior to your check out appointment, students must:
- Remove all personal belongings from the room
- Return all College property to its original order and location
- Unloft/de-bunk the bed
- This process requires two people
- Set the bedframe on the fourth rung from the bottom
- Return bed rails, loft parts, and loft pegs to the Front Desk staff during Front Desk Hours and Front Desk Worker will help return these items into storage
- Bed Loft Kits are to be returned to the front desk of their residence hall from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
- Unloft/de-bunk the bed
- Clean the room according to the guidelines below:
- Wall, Ceiling, mirrors: Remove all posters, tape, stickers, and adhesives. Clean marks and residue off all surfaces.
- Floor: Sweep, vacuum, mop the floor (when applicable). Do not sweep anything into the hallway.
- Door: Remove all tape, stickers, adhesives, from both sides of the door. Clean all marks and residue off both sides of the door.
- Window & Screens: Close and lock windows. Remove all tape, stickers, and adhesives. Clean marks and residues off of windows.
- Furniture: Clean all furniture surfaces including chairs, desks, dressers, windowsills, etc. Remove all stains, smudges, tape, adhesives.
- Microfridge: Remove all food. Defrost the unit (this will take over 24-hours). Empty the water tray and dry it out. Clean the inside and outside of the microwave and refrigerator. Unplug and leave the door open.
- Trash & Recycling bins: Empty bins of any trash outside in the appropriate dumpsters. Once bins are empty, wash them out and remove any remaining trash or adhesives in the bin.
- All residents of Townhouses, Suites, and Pods are responsible for cleaning common spaces including:
- Bathrooms: Remove all belongings from bathroom spaces, and clean and wipe down surfaces. Empty any trash in dumpsters outside.
- Kitchens: Remove all belongings from kitchen spaces, clean and wipe down all surfaces, refrigerator, and stove/range. Empty any trash in dumpsters outside.
- A member of the Townhouse Residents are responsible for scheduling a meeting to audit and return their Kitchen Supply Bin to Residence Life. The residents of the Townhouse are to determine the resident(s) responsible for turning the bin in. The cost of missing and/or broken items will be divided amongst all residents of the Townhouse.
- The bin is to be delivered to the New Hall Front Desk.
- The meeting can be scheduled using the Residence Hall Check-out Scheduler.
- Floors: Vacuum, sweep, and mop all common floors.
- Common Spaces / Living Rooms: Remove all personal belongings, clean and wipe down all furniture, clean floors.
At your Check out Appointment:
- A Residence Life Staff Member will walk through the space with you to inspect the Room, Suite and Pod space.
- The Residence Life Staff Member will assess the space for any damages that may have occurred during the duration of the school year. At the time of inspection, Residence Life Staff is not able to confirm if there will be any damage charges.

- The Residence Life Staff Member will take your key at check out.
Graduating Seniors
Congratulations! We are very excited to celebrate your graduation with you! Please see the details below regading your graduation and check out of the Residence Halls.
Graduating Seniors do not need to sign up for extended stay (its okay if you did!). We will work with all seniors to make sure that they have access to their Residence Hall through Commencement.
Please sign up for a checkout date on May 24 or May 25 using the appropriate link at the bottom of this webpage. Our Residence Life staff will work with you to check you out of your room after your commencement!
All Seniors must be checked out of their Housing Assignment by 1:00 PM on Sunday, May 25.

INFORMAL CHECK-OUT
- Students who check out between 11:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. have two options:
- Option 1: Request an Informal Check-out with your Area Coordinator at minimum 72 hours before departure. The Area Coordinator will provide you the next steps for a walk-through of your room for damages. You are permitted to appeal any damage charges.
- Keys must be dropped off at the 24/7 key drop-off at Public Safety (TOH 10).
- Option 2: Student can waive a check-out. This also waives the student’s ability to appeal any damage charges
- Keys must be dropped off at the 24/7 key drop off at Public Safety (TOH 10).

- Any changes to your check out time must be made 24-hours before your scheduled check out. Students who do not give 24-hours notice may be charged an improper check out fee.
