Overview of Services
1) The counseling center on campus typically provides brief therapy to students. We can see
students in person every 2-3 weeks for 45-50 min. sessions. Students can schedule a counseling
appointment by contacting our administrative assistant, Alyssa, at counselingcenter@stolaf.edu
or by calling 507-786-3062. For more information on getting scheduled, please visit our
Schedule an Appointment (https://wp.stolaf.edu/counseling-center/schedule-an-
appointment/) page. For more information on the services we offer, please visit our
Information (https://wp.stolaf.edu/counseling-center/counseling-center-
information/) page. Due to limitations around confidentiality, we are not able to accept
appointment requests from parents or guardians. Students must be the person who contacts
the counseling center to get scheduled for services.
2) Students also have access to TimelyCare services through St. Olaf:
* Through Timelycare, students get 12 free virtual sessions per each academic year
with a counselor, after which they are able to bill insurance or pay out of pocket ($90/session)
to continue with that therapist if they need more sessions. These sessions can be scheduled
weekly, every other week, or once a month.
* TimelyCare also provides 24/7/365 immediate mental health support through their
TalkNow option. This option can be accessed anywhere within the US. It can also be accessed
by students outside of the US if the TimelyCare app is downloaded prior to leaving campus.
* TimelyCare also has psychiatric services for medication evaluation and management
for students when indicated (referral from a counseling center counselor or TimelyCare
counselor is required).
* TimelyCare also has free unlimited sessions with a health coach.

3) We also have a list of local therapists in the community that we can provide to students. We
often recommend this option or TimelyCare to students who need more frequent and longer-
term counseling than our counseling center can provide. These community therapy services can
be billed through insurance or paid out of pocket. If your student would like a referral list for
local/virtual providers that can offer weekly therapy, please have your student email
counselingcenter@stolaf.edu along with the name of their insurance carrier. There are also
providers in town that have sliding scales as low as $40/session. Please click this link (https://wp.stolaf.edu/counseling-center/psychiatric-resources/) to access a list of psychiatric
providers in the local area. Many of these providers listed accept most major insurance carriers.
