I hope that you and those you love are well, and that your summer is going well.
We continue to plan for in-person learning this fall. You have received additional information in recent weeks about how everything from housing to classes to COVID-19 testing will look this fall. As you’ve seen we have many plans in place with the goal of keeping our community safe and minimizing the spread of the virus when classes resume.
We know, because we’re hearing from you, that some of you are eager to come to campus for in-person learning while others of you, for a variety of reasons, either can’t or would prefer not to come to campus and therefore want to learn online this fall. What we don’t know is how many of you are in each group. If we had that information, we could better plan for ways to try to meet the needs of as many of you as we can. That’s why I’m asking you to respond to this email by answering one simple question: do you prefer to come to campus for in-person learning, or would you prefer remote learning online?
Your answer doesn’t commit you to a particular course of action if you should change your mind at a later date. Nor is it a promise from the College that we can accommodate everyone’s needs. This is just an attempt to get important information to inform our ongoing planning, because better data yields better decisions.
Please complete the survey and respond by 5 p.m. this Wednesday, July 29.
I will report back by the end of next week about what we learn.
