The class deans serve as consultants to students about issues and concerns, including personal and academic matters.

Each student year is assigned a class dean. First-year students are assigned Dean Chang Dao Vang. Sophomore students are assigned Dean Justin Fleming. Junior and Senior students are assigned Dean Tim Schroer.

Rosalyn Eaton, the Dean of Students, is one person you may turn to for support. She is willing to answer your questions – or to help you find the answers if I don’t have them. The Dean of Students works in concert with your class deans, the health and well-being staff (Wellness, Health Services, Counseling Center, Recreation and Club Sports) Student Activities and Residence Life tosupport you in your life here and to challenge you to take advantage of opportunities to grow.

Students come to our office when they need individualized help in regards to their personal, social, and academic needs. This could involve a conduct issue, an academic concern, or if your health and wellbeing are impacting your collegiate success.

The Vice President for Student Life, Hassel Morrison, oversees the Dean of Students office and all other departments within the division of student life.

Not necessarily. While the Dean of Students office oversees conduct, they also help support students who are experiencing unique challenges. The primary goal of the DOS office is to help students succeed at St. Olaf, which looks different for every student.

If you are unsure where to go for support on campus, the Student Care Coordinator, Corrie Zoltai,  is a great person to connect with. Corrie meets one-on-one with students to discuss and implement potential remedies to the challenges that students may face. This often consists of regular meetings to discuss how to manage mental health concerns amid the rigors of academic coursework.

You can start by filling out a Community Concern Form. This submission is received by the Dean of Students office, who can help assess the appropriate actions to take. You can also schedule an appointment with your class dean (see above) or stop by our office.
