Equipment
The 3D printers available in the DiSCO are Ultimaker printers: Ultimaker 3 and 3E, Ultimaker S5. Paired with Ultimaker Cura, students can bring their digital projects to life.
Students are allowed to use 300g of PLA filament per semester. After that, the student must supply their own filament. Talk to DiSCO staff if you would like to do this.

If you would like a 3D model printed, use the STL file or the 3mf file format (Ultimaker Cura Project File) and choose a color of filament. Please send the files and color choice to the DiSCO by using the Service Request form. If you have multiple STL objects, please submit them as multiple files.
Below is a guide on how to use the Cura Software with the printer and create a 3mf file.
Design Software
Blender is available on some DiSCO computers. If it is not found, ask a DiSCO worker for assistance or try another computer. TinkerCad is web based and can be used to create simple 3D models. Onshape is a more advanced CAD software that works on web. Cura prepares the print for printing on the Ultimaker 3D printers.
Pre-Made Designs
Pre-made designs can be found on Thingiverse or Printables. It is a great resource to find designs that are ready to print.
