Getting
Transfer Students
On-Track
Whether you are joining us as a “first-year” student or you are entering your sophomore, junior, or senior year, you are an Ole and we are thrilled you are joining our community! Here at St. Olaf, we are committed to your holistic success as a St. Olaf student. We will be in touch with you throughout the summer and each step of your journey to the Hill. If you have completed the 6 steps listed here, scroll down further to get to your New Student Checklist.
Let’s get started.
1
Looking to transfer to St. Olaf?
Fantastic!
The first step is letting us know you want to be an Ole! Applications to join our community can be submitted to our Admissions team!
2
Application in and accepted? That’s great! Welcome! Now you need to submit your enrollment deposit through your Admissions portal and any necessary financial documents through our Financial Aid office.
3
After depositing, someone from our Registrar’s Office will reach out to make sure your credits transfer smoothly. They will help guide you through registration holds and placement surveys to ensure that you are ready to register for classes!
4
All set on your holds and credit transfers? Awesome. Next, you will connect with the Academic Success Center to register for classes and learn about the resources available to you as an Ole!
5
If you have not already done so, you will want to complete our New Student Orientation Module.* The module is for all incoming students and has been designed as an introduction to our community on the hill (*will open on May 1, 2026).
6
Make sure you keep your eyes on your St. Olaf email account as we will be in touch in the weeks leading up to your arrival – we’ll make sure you are ready to join us on the Hill. If you have any questions, your NSO team can be reached via email!
Wait. Is New Student Orientation for me?
Of course!
New Student Orientation is for all incoming Oles, whether you start in the fall or the spring semester. In fact, we have a specific experience designed just for you! In the fall we have New Student Orientation: Transfer Track (NSO TT); in the spring we have Mid-Year New Student Orientation (MY NSO). Transfer students are encouraged to fully take part in all aspects of NSO TT or MY NSO so they can feel ready to be successful Oles in and out of the classroom.
Transfer Ole Fall Move-In: will be on Monday, September 7 between 2-4 pm.
