How to Apply
J-1 Visa Information
Non-degree seeking international students that are studying at St. Olaf College as part of an exchange program for either fall semester or an academic year, are required to obtain a J-1 visa. Upon admission/acceptance by St. Olaf College, the Assistant Director of International Programs in the Taylor Center for Equity and Inclusion will provide all necessary documentation and share next steps on how to obtain a J-1 visa at the U.S. Embassy/Consulate of your choice.
Estimated Cost of Attendance
Every student will need to pay tuition, room, and board while attending St. Olaf. View the Comprehensive Fees webpage for more information on St. Olaf tuition, room, and board costs.
Course Registration
After completing your registration holds, you will work with the Registrar’s Office to choose courses. Degree-seeking St. Olaf students register first, so please plan to have several schedule options in case your first choices are full before you register. You will work with the St. Olaf Registrar’s Office and your assigned advisor to register for courses. Exchange students may not register for courses in the following departments: Computer Science, Economics, Education, Math, Music, Nursing, Social Work, and Statistics. Courses in the following departments will have very limited enrollment options: Dance, Psychology, Studio Art, and Theater.
Living On Campus
The Residence Life Program at St. Olaf fosters the development of community within the residence halls, honor houses, and across campus. As a residential college, we require that all full-time students reside in college-owned housing as far as accommodations permit. Our co-ed halls house men and women on separate floors or corridors.
Get Involved On Campus
We believe that campus programming and intentional co-curricular involvement augment the St. Olaf experience.
The out-of-the-classroom experience offers countless venues for Oles to explore their interests, try something new, and create memories of their time on the Hill. From comedians, speakers, and musical entertainment to cultural celebrations, dialogue spaces, and volunteering, there is truly something for everyone. Through the events and involvement opportunities sponsored by our office, SGA, and student organizations, coupled with their academic pursuits, we seek to prepare Oles to live lives of meaning and purpose.
Emergency Contact Information
