Social Explorer combines Census data with mapping. You can use the site in two ways: you can create your own interactive demographic maps using Census data online (at a variety of levels), or you can very easily download ready-to-use Census data that you can connect to your own geodata in a GIS. While not perfect, Social Explorer takes a great deal of the pain out of finding, downloading, and making use of Census demographic data– both use to make a quick map online, or in the often-ugly process of downloading Census data for use in your GIS projects.
