International Health Insurance

International Student Health Insurance

It is St. Olaf policy that ALL students maintain adequate health insurance. This requirement is in place for the protection of the students.

The international student insurance policy is offered through EIIA.  Visit their website for details. Eligible students enrolled at St. Olaf  must complete the waiver or enrollment form every year on EIIA’s website. Students must complete the 2020-2021 form by 11:59 pm Wednesday, September 23, 2020. If the waiver form has not been completed by a waiver eligible student prior to that time, the student will be automatically enrolled in the St. Olaf insurance policy and the $1,650 premium will be non-refundable. The waiver needs to only be submitted once per academic year.

Waiver Eligibility

Eligibility to waive the international student health insurance plan and replace it with a plan that meets the health insurance requirements is determined by your student status:

New incoming international students for the 2020-2021 and international students who matriculated in the 2019-2020 school year will not be able to waive the health insurance and will be automatically billed and enrolled in the international student health insurance plan.

Students who have started prior to the 2019-2020 academic year are eligible to waive international student health insurance plan for the 2020-2021 academic year. Students can only waive if the student has adequate alternative health insurance coverage that is valid.

Pre-Enrollment Instructions:

If you need to receive your health insurance card before the end of the waiver period you have the option to enroll yourself in the plan so that you can access your insurance card. This will confirm to the insurance company that you are not planning on waiving the insurance.  If you do not pre-enroll in the plan you will be automatically enrolled in the plan and your insurance card will be mailed to you at St. Olaf.
