The Flaten Art Museum collection at St. Olaf College is a resource for teaching, learning, and scholarship. Comprised of more than 4,000 objects, the collection includes paintings, fine art prints, photographs, sculptures, ceramics, graphic arts, and textiles from around the world. The collection has grown over many decades through generous donations and occasional purchases.
Flaten Art Museum’s Collection Stories offer thematic, student-led tours of the collection. Developed through St. Olaf’s Collaborative Undergraduate Research and Inquiry in 2014, the videos inspire fresh ways to approach art. Viewers are invited to discover their own stories in the collection – delve in with a class visit or a virtual journey through the online collection.
