Krista Anderson-Larson
Krista Anderson-Larson’s sculptures explore the development of queer identity using found bathroom objects and fixtures. By arranging and manipulating these forms, the artist suggests the human body or multiple bodies. In Untitled: Bathtubs, two white fiberglass bathtubs form a clamshell, slightly askew to allow a glimpse of the protected interior. In Untitled: Hand Dryers, two commercial hand dryers are affixed to a bathroom stall door. One is right side up and the other is upside down with their nozzles aligned, as if exchanging air. Curator Kehayr Brown-Ransaw writes, “Both sculptures explore a relationship of care through a reciprocal give-and-take.”
