Health Service and Local Providers

The St. Olaf College Student Health Service is located on the first floor of Tomson Hall in Rm 160. It is staffed by a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a support staff person.

Appointments for students are available M-F 9am-1130am and 1-4pm.  Health Service has a limited ability to provide medical or advice care over the phone.  Students who have the St Olaf insurance plan can use the Nurse Hotline for quick, sound medical advice 24 hrs/day, 365 days/yr @ 1-800-557-0309. Students not on the school insurance plan are encouraged to call their personal insurance plan Nurse Hotline or Advice line.  For questions regarding services, please contact Health Service X3063 or by e-mail.  The office is closed during summer, student breaks, and occasionally, during the school year.

  •  Same day appointments are not always available. Students can also use local resources as listed below.  In an emergency, call 911 and/or Public Safety at X3666.

While St. Olaf Health Service does its best to provide quality medical services for it’s students, it does have limits of care. There may be times when appointments are not immediately available or resources are not available, or appropriate, for the care a student needs or requests.  In those circumstances, students can access off campus resources.  St. Olaf is fortunate to have quality off-campus providers nearby that are familiar with treating college students. Some local resources are listed below.   Health Service does not endorse any clinic.   Health Service can assist students in locating those resources if needed.  Various free or inexpensive transportation options are available and listed on the Student Activities website.  One of our goals is to help students learn to effectively utilize health care in the community.  While students may be reluctant to go off-campus, we are confident that they are building life skills around health care management.  It is the student’s responsibility to check with insurance regarding coverage of those services.

The Counseling Center  X3062 is located separately at a different location:  Boe House, 1308 St. Olaf Avenue.
