All currently enrolled St. Olaf students are eligible. To be considered for funding, a student must be listed on the official roster of their student organization on Presence.
Expenses associated with participation in a registered student organization or taking part in an initiative sponsored by the Division of Student Life including but not limited to the following may be covered:
- Expenses associated with approved organization travel
- Expenses associated with uniforms required for organization participation
- Expenses associated with activities sponsored by student organizations or offices within the Division of Student Life
*Organization dues are included in the approved coverages. They are auto-applied during the dues process, so there is no need to request funding for dues.
The fund has been established to support access to co-curricular opportunities for individual students. Organizations/departments may not apply for use of the fund.
- St. Olaf students seeking financial support for personal needs should consider the St. Olaf Emergency Fund.
- Registered student organizations are able to request funding from their respective branch of the Student Government Association.
The purpose of the fund is to create access for students to engage in the St. Olaf experience as a whole. As such, students who receive funding are expected to participate fully in their selected involvement. Students who receive funding for specific activities/initiatives (travel costs, registration fees, etc.) must complete the activity/initiative in full. Students who receive funding to participate in a student organization (dues, training fees, uniform costs, etc.) must participate to an identified threshold (i.e. 70% of competitions) that is agreed-upon by the student and OSA staff. Students who are not able to fully participate will need to return the funds. Organizations who receive funding on behalf of a member will also need to return the funding.
Additionally, students may be asked to share how additional funding has impacted their St. Olaf experience.
Students are eligible to receive a maximum of $350 per academic year from the fund. To aid in making funding decisions for activity/initiative requests, the OSA team uses the below rubric. Organization dues are covered using a different rubric that can be found in the Student Organization Handbook.

When calculating coverage, students will receive either the appropriate percentage of funding OR $350, whichever is less. Students that do not reach the annual cap of $350 from one request are able to request additional time until they reach the cap.
*Level of need is determined by Financial Aid. If a student believes their determined level of need does not accurately encompass their situation, they are encouraged to connect with the Office of Student Activities.
Student organization members must exhaust all other possible financial resources including fundraising before applying to receive funds. The amount given is determined by the need and is subject to the availability of the funds. Funding from the Co-Curricular Opportunity Fund does not need to be repaid and is distributed on a case-by-case basis. Please note that funding may create a taxable event that could require reporting to the IRS by the recipient.
Please submit the form below to be considered for funding. Your request will be reviewed by a panel of staff, a process that may include a meeting with staff in the Office of Student Activities to discuss the opportunity you are seeking funding for.
