Clinical Healthcare Interim Internship

Program Goals:

  • To provide pre-health students with a realistic view of modern medical practices in a clinic setting.
  • To inform students about potential future careers in health care through extended, meaningful, and direct exposure.
  • To ease students’ transition into further education/experiences through knowledge gained during the program.

Two (2) St. Olaf student interns will explore numerous departments and aspects involved in delivering care to patients in a clinic setting through association with various health care providers and staff at the Allina Clinic in Northfield, MN, during interim 2020. The student interns will spend time with physicians, nurses, technicians, and clinic staff throughout their daily activities in pertinent and approved settings. Experiences will be planned according to Allina Clinic’s policy, which protects patients’ rights to privacy under HIPAA.

Areas of exposure include:

  • Call center/reception
  • Gastroenterology
  • General Surgery
  • Mental Health
  • Radiology/imaging
  • Lab
  • Family Practice
  • Sports medicine
  • Administration
  • Various roles including MD, DO, NP, PA, RN, CMA, LP
