Interested in building new skills, exploring a career area, or gaining industry-recognized credentials? The Piper Center for Vocation & Career is excited to offer students the opportunity to complete a skill-building program through Coursera.
Coursera offers access to more than 5,000 courses, projects, and professional programs developed by leading universities and industry partners. Through this opportunity, students can explore programs aligned with their academic interests, career goals, and areas of curiosity while developing practical and career-relevant skills.
Students can search the full list of available opportunities here. When exploring the “Courses & Projects | Master” tab, we recommend using Column T (Domain) and Column U (Sub-Domain) to filter opportunities by industry or area of interest. Students may also search by the Industry Partner providing the opportunity using Column B.
Alternatively, several curated lists have been developed around specialty areas and academic interests at St. Olaf College. Students are encouraged to explore these curated tabs as a starting point when considering programs related to their interests.
Applications are open on a rolling basis throughout the academic year. Applications will be reviewed within two weeks of submission.
The specific objectives of this program are to:
Build practical and career-relevant skills through structured online learning experiences
Explore new industries, career pathways, and areas of professional interest
Connect skill-building opportunities to academic studies and future career goals
Develop greater awareness of industry expectations and in-demand skills
Strengthen personal accountability and self-directed learning skills
Mode of Instruction: Online through Coursera
Program Selection: Students may choose from more than 5,000 available courses, projects, and programs, including opportunities curated around a variety of specialty areas at St. Olaf College
Industry Partners: Programs are developed and offered by a range of universities, organizations, and industry partners
Cost: Program costs will be covered through the Piper Center’s Coursera opportunity
Currently enrolled St. Olaf College student
Strong interest in building new skills and exploring areas related to academic and career interests
Willingness to engage in a self-directed online learning experience
Ability to effectively manage time and remain accountable for completing program requirements
