When may you ask about salary and benefits?

Many organizations, as part of the job description, will offer information about salary and benefits.

Check on the organization’s website for this information — particularly about benefits.  The Piper Center may also have information about salaries that are typical for a particular industry or field of work or service.

What if the organization does not offer information about salary and benefits?

Go into an interview assuming that the organization is competitive with others in the industry or field.  If the organization does NOT offer information about salary and benefit,

  • DO NOT ask questions about compensation (salary and benefits)
  • Wait until you are offered the position
