Curious about a career in art conservation? You’re in luck! The Piper Center for Vocation & Career has partnered with the incredible team at the Midwest Art Conservation Center (MACC) to offer students an in-person, for-credit certification program during January 2027.
This workshop series and academic experience provides students with a hands-on opportunity to explore key topics and develop foundational skills necessary to begin exploring a career in art conservation. Specific workshop topics include: Museum Environments 101, Art & Artifact Handling, Condition Reports, Emergency Preparedness, Materials Characterization, and a Lab Visit to the Midwest Art Conservation Center.
Throughout the program, students will participate in guided reflection and academic engagement facilitated by a St. Olaf Art History professor, helping them connect their hands-on experiences to broader questions in art history, conservation, material culture, and career exploration.
