The role
The candidate is applying for a role as a financial analyst with an organization in Minneapolis, Minnesota, that does business with large Asian companies, particularly in China.
The benefit statement
I am currently a senior at St. Olaf College, where I am majoring in math with a concentration in Asian Studies. Chinese is my foreign language. I’ve also enjoyed my coursework in economic modeling and in oral and written communication for different audiences.
For my senior project, I developed a cost/benefit model for a small exporter to Pacific Rim countries. I was delighted to learn that the exporter is actually using the model.
Last summer, I was an intern at the Twin Cities Exchange Group in St. Paul, where I supported the development of a new marketing strategy. I also learned new and exciting computer applications to control costs in the export business.
I have enjoyed my roles as the treasurer of the St. Olaf Math Club and as a volunteer for Northfield Hospice. I believe that this combination of coursework, teamwork, and hands-on experience with local and overseas clients would enable me to contribute to the mission of your organization, which is to build strong relationships with large companies in Asia, especially in China.
