Eta Sigma Phi Reunion Day
Third-Floor Tomson Hall Display Case: Classical Studies, 1971-2021
The 50th anniversary of the founding of Delta Chi chapter was celebrated on Saturday, October 23, 2021, with a festive reunion in Tomson Hall. The day began with a ritual cording (by Profs. May, Reece, and Groton) of older alumni who had never received an Eta Sigma Phi honor cord, and a welcome by Leslie Moore ’77, St. Olaf’s Vice President for Human Resources. It ended with a raffle of Classics-related books, several of them donated and signed by the authors. In between there were two engaging alumni panels on vocational paths, a lively presentation on “Classics at St. Olaf: Then and Now” by Profs. Groton, Reece, Bouxsein, Helms, and Steed, and lots of good food provided by Bon Appétit.

Many thanks to all of our Classics alumni who attended, especially the eight who served as panelists; three of them even flew here from out of state (Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Indiana). Thanks also to the current students who helped with registration and campus tours. There was much intergenerational camaraderie; you could feel an undying love of Classics in the air! Unfortunately, we were all having such a good time that we forgot to take any official photos!
