7 courses in Greek (only 6 courses if the student begins Greek at the 231 level or higher)

1 Greek history course (or 1 Classics GHS course)
Intended Learning Outcomes for a Major in Greek (updated September 2024)
Students will demonstrate:
- proficiency in ancient Greek at the advanced level.
- the ability to comprehend and analyze ancient Greek texts in at least three genres.
- broad knowledge about the world of the ancient Greeks.
- the ability to produce writing and research relevant to the major.
Departmental distinction is not awarded in Greek (only in Classics).
