7 courses in Latin (only 6 courses if the student begins Latin at the 231 level or higher)

1 Roman history course (or 1 Classics GHS course)
Intended Learning Outcomes for a Major in Latin (updated September 2024)
Students will demonstrate:
- proficiency in Latin at the advanced level.
- the ability to comprehend and analyze Latin texts in at least three genres.
- broad knowledge about the world of the ancient Romans.
- the ability to produce writing and research relevant to the major.
Departmental distinction is not awarded in Latin (only in Classics).
