Students who begin Latin at the 231 (3rd-semester) level or higher have the option of taking 6 courses in Latin, 1 ancient Roman history course, and 1 Classics course.
Intended Learning Outcomes for a Major in Latin
Students will demonstrate:
- advanced knowledge of the Latin language.
- the ability to translate and analyze Latin literature in at least three genres.
- basic cultural knowledge about ancient Rome.
Departmental distinction is not awarded in Latin (only in Classics).
