AP/IB Exam Policy

Advanced Placement (AP) Exam Policy:

Applies not only to the old AP Latin/Vergil Exam but also to the new AP Latin Exam.*

*Only one AP credit is awarded by St. Olaf even if the student has received scores of 4 or 5 on both exams.

Score of 3 on AP Latin Exam: 
Placement into Latin 231.

Score of 4 or 5 on APA Latin Exam: 
Placement into Latin 231 or any Latin course above 231.  Upon successful completion (C or above) of Latin 231, AP credit for Latin 112 will be awarded; upon successful completion (C or above) of a Latin course above 231, AP credit for Latin 231 will be awarded.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Exam Policy:

Score of 5 or higher on HL Latin Exam:

Placement into Latin 231 or any Latin course above 231.  Upon successful completion (C or above) of Latin 231, IB credit for Latin 112 will be awarded; upon successful completion (C or above) of a Latin course above 231, IB credit for Latin 231 will be awarded.

Score of 5 or higher on HL Classical Greek Exam:

Placement into Greek 231 or any Greek course above 231.  Upon successful completion (C or above) of Greek 231, IB credit for Greek 112 will be awarded; upon successful completion (C or above) of a Greek course above 231, IB credit for Greek 231 will be awarded.
