  During MADD team training students will receive two hour training sessions three times per week  where they will learn fundamental concepts, analyze and dissect case studies, and develop their own personal projects. Students will also work with the Marketing and Communications department to strategize and develop a real, inquiry-to-prospect marketing campaign.
  
  
• St. Olaf College Human Resources Special Projects Intern
  (Listed in Handshake in fall, due in mid-October)
  St. Olaf College’s Human Resources office staff collaborate with a student intern on a month-long strategic project related to emerging needs within the department. Past interns have worked in diverse areas of HR, such as training and development, compensation and benefits, job classification, resource development, and website design.

• Wall Street Prep Certificate (Financial Modeling) – prepare for the demands of investment banking and corporate finance.

• Entrepreneurship: Value Proposition Design Certificate – translate your innovation to a fundable, high-growth business.
• C4: Crack the Case Crash Course – Management Consulting Case Interview Preparation (link to handshake posting)
• Foundations of Real Estate (FoRE) Certificate – introduction to the fundamental issues and concepts in commercial real estate.
• LinkedIn Learning Tutorials (e.g. Excel, Photoshop, SEO optimization, writing a business plan, data visualization, etc.)

Campus Recruiting refers to student hiring pipelines for summer internships and entry-level jobs – mainly from corporate/business employers.  

Recruiting occurs throughout the year, with fall and spring the primary time for opportunities.  Employers will generally expect students to intern or start employment in the upcoming summer. 

Seek out opportunities to explore your interests, gain valuable professional experience, and develop new skills through Student Employment. 

What types of roles are there for students?

Check out the Student Employment Guide and the Student Employment Portal to learn about roles students currently or have previously held at St. Olaf. There are a wide variety of opportunities! 

Here are a few examples:

• Program or Office Assistant roles in Human Resources, Financial Aid and Student Accounts, and the Government, Foundation & Corporate Relations Office
• Event management roles in a wide variety of departments, including Admissions, Alumni & Parent Relations, Athletics, Theater, the Taylor Center for Equity and Inclusion, and Camps, Conferences and Events
• Gain experience in professional communication with stakeholders as a Student Development Officer in Annual Giving or as a Tour Guide with Admissions
• Leadership roles including Junior Counselor/Resident Assistant positions in Residence Life, Peer Educator in the Wellness Center, Peer Advisor/Recruiting Coordinator  in the Piper Center

Student Employment Job Board – this is the best resource for identifying current openings on campus. Occasionally, departments will also share opportunities on Handshake.

Student Employment Guide – this guide includes many of the positions that students currently or have previously held at St. Olaf. If you see a position you are interested in, but do not see it posted as a current opportunity on the Job Board you may wish to reach out via email or by stopping in to the office to learn more about the role and hiring process.

The Pre-Professional Finance Fast-Track Opportunity is designed to provide incoming students with the opportunity to access an accelerated course progression in order to prepare them for certain competitive careers in finance.

Incoming and current students are eligible to apply for the opportunity until the end of their first semester at St. Olaf.  Students wishing to apply to the Finance Fast Track after their first semester should contact the Business & Management Studies Department for guidance

It is strongly recommended that students interested in business-related graduate school program work for at least a few years.  This will help you determine if graduate school is worth the investment – and, if so, help you get the most out of the program.

Additionally, most business schools require some years of professional experience as part of their application requirements.

Corporate employers may have dedicated leadership programs intended to bolster diversity and inclusion in their recruiting pipelines.  These programs are often created with certain under-represented groups in mind and can be a great way to learn about the employer, the industry, and available roles.  Most of the time, participation in these programs provides early access to internship and job opportunities.
