Translation Services

The St. Olaf Norwegian department does not offer translation services.

The industry-standard rates for translation services varies based on experience; some translators charge by the hour, others by the word.

You will typically pay more for handwritten letters than you do for something that is typed. This is both because it takes longer to decipher, but also because it takes a different skill set. Many handwritten documents are not in modern Norwegian, it is an older form of the language that mixes Norwegian, Danish, Swedish and English.  Additionally, handwritten documents are frequently in one of hundreds of Norwegian dialects.
