Welcome to the all-digital winter issue of St. Olaf Magazine! Several months ago, writer Sarah Warren ’99 came to us with an idea: what if we told the stories of Oles through the lens of the popular “How It Started … How It’s Going” trend? The basic concept of the trend is to show how people, places, relationships, and roles have evolved over time — often in surprising ways. We quickly realized that it’s a great way to highlight the often-unexpected path that a liberal arts education can pave. In this issue, read and watch the powerful stories of how the St. Olaf experience has shaped alumni, faculty members, students … and even the Hill itself.
